Rotterdam, April 21, 2020 – Hebo Maritiem service hasacquired a shipyard, including water and buildings, from Damen Shipyards in Rotterdam Pernis. The yard was owned by Damen since 1997 and was known as the former shipyard of Van Niehuis & Van den Berg.
The total location includes more than 9 hectares of land, 12 hectares of water, 860 meters of slope, ten jetties with lengths of up to 280 meters, various berths for dry docks and various buildings, which are partly leased.
The buyer will optimize, further develop and work on the location, on which, in consultation with the Port Authority of Rotterdam, more than a third of the location will be redeveloped over the next 10 years.
The accessibility of the location will further improve by new connections with the waterbus and watertaxi. There will also be invested in shore-power facilities and solar charging points for electric vessels and projects that will contribute to plastic collection, oil remediation and incident management.
